Lead Mobile Diesel Mechanic

Lead Mobile Diesel Technician Location: City, state or region (must reside in the area). Travel 100% of the time. Compensation: Hourly base pay $39.13 – $58.75/hour. Additional compensation may include commissions or incentive programs. Job Overview: Lead mobile diesel technicians perform DOT inspections, preventive maintenance, and advanced repairs for light, medium, and heavy‑duty vehicles in a mobile field environment. Responsibilities Perform scheduled preventive maintenance (PM) and DOT inspections, and complete follow‑up repairs. Conduct light to advanced mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic diagnostics. Inspect, test, and road‑test vehicles to diagnose malfunctions. Maintain parts inventory, perform equipment reconciliation, and conduct pre‑ and post‑trip inspections of the company‑issued service truck. Document work on Repair Orders (RO) using the proprietary TRAIT application and upload photos. Assist and mentor Mobile Diesel Technicians I/II/Sr on best practices and techniques. Support the Mobile Technician Manager with quality‑control inspections and make decisions related to technician performance. Communicate with customers to assess needs, provide assistance, and ensure customer satisfaction. Work independently, manage own schedule, and maintain productivity close to standard repair times. Perform all work in compliance with safety, health, and environmental policies and federal regulations (OSHA, EPA, DOT). Qualifications High School Diploma or GED with 7 years of relevant experience; or any higher degree or certification plus 5 years of experience; or 9 years of experience. Valid U.S. driver’s license and ability to obtain and maintain a Driver Qualification File. Ability to lift, bend, climb, and perform physically demanding tasks for long periods. Strong communication skills and ability to work independently.
