Mobile Diesel Technician Level II This position requires an individual with a strong mechanical and diagnostic skill set to perform mobile field work on light, medium, and heavy‑duty vehicles. Duties Perform scheduled preventative maintenance ("PM"), DOT inspections, and follow‑up repairs on light, medium, and heavy‑duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment. Perform minor adjustments and repairs on various types of truck equipment including electrical, brake, cooling, starter/alternator, fan clutch, engine electronics, diesel steering, engines (gas and diesel), transmissions (manual and automatic), clutches, and differentials. Diagnose, adjust, and repair various types of truck equipment including electrical, brake, cooling, air conditioning, fan clutch, engine electronics, diesel steering, engines (gas and diesel), transmissions, clutches, and differentials. Inspect, test, and analyze defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions using handheld computers and pressure gauges. Road test vehicles to diagnose malfunctions and ensure proper operation. Identify problems, determine accuracy and relevance of information, using sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives. Independently manage parts inventory and equipment on the company‑issued service truck and perform periodic reconciliation. Maintain and operate company‑issued service vehicle, conduct safety checks, and perform pre‑/post‑trip inspections. Work with customers to assess needs, provide information or assistance, and resolve problems. Manage concurrent assigned tasks, prioritizing work activities and time allocations. Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lift and jacks. Document according to company standards and upload photos of work performed, parts used, and findings on Repair Orders ("RO") using iOS device and proprietary TRAIT application. Accurately complete DOT forms and other documentation in a timely manner. Work with a high degree of independence and manage own daily schedule. Maintain a high level of productivity, working within or close to most standard repair times. Obtain parts from approved local and national vendors as needed for repairs. Communicate with management and support team via email or phone to obtain approvals on repair estimates and discuss RO findings. Perform work in compliance with safety, health, environmental policies, and federal regulations (OSHA, EPA, DOT). Requirements High School Diploma/GED and at least 3 years of experience in a related field (or an equivalent combination of education and experience). Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary for job duties. Obtain Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification T8 (PMI) within 18 months. Must successfully complete DOT‑regulated pre‑employment background screening, DOT physical, or provide a valid DOT medical card with more than 4 months remaining. Must be at least 21 years old to comply with interstate commerce regulations. Must hold a valid state driver’s license and maintain a Driver Qualification File. Must be a safe driver with a clean driving record.
