Payroll Specialist

Job Overview Search Solution Group is seeking a Junior Payroll Specialist on behalf of our client, a global trading firm specializing in quantitative trading, market making, and venture capital. This role is a key contributor to a high-performing payroll team responsible for supportingemployees across multiple states and international entities. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment, supporting full-cycle payroll operations while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and continuous process improvement. Key Responsibilities Process full-cycle, multi-state payroll for a large employee population Partner with HR, Benefits, and Finance teams to ensure accurate payroll processing and alignment with employee data Assist with payroll-related impacts of benefits, compensation changes, and employee lifecycle events Troubleshoot payroll discrepancies and resolve issues in a timely manner Collaborate with third-party tax vendors and external partners on payroll-related matters Support state tax registrations and compliance as the organization expands into new jurisdictions Contribute to payroll system updates, testing, and future ERP implementation initiatives Maintain accurate payroll records and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations Assist with global payroll considerations, including international mobility and intercompany transactions Participate in continuous process improvements to enhance efficiency and scalability Requirements include Education Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field preferred Experience 3–7 years of experience in payroll processing, preferably in a high-volume, multi-state environment Experience supporting large employee populations strongly preferred Skills Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities High attention to detail and accuracy Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Proficiency in payroll systems (experience with UKG Pro or similar systems preferred) Advanced Microsoft Excel skills Certifications Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) is a plus but not required Knowledge Strong understanding of multi-state payroll laws and tax regulations Familiarity with complex payroll environments including states such as California, New York, Ohio, and Pennsylvania Exposure to global payroll, international assignments, or global mobility is a plus Strong work ethic with a proactive and solution-oriented mindset Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team Excellent communication skills and ability to partner cross-functionally Adaptability and comfort working in a fast-paced, evolving environment High level of professionalism, discretion, and accountability Curiosity and willingness to learn and grow within a complex payroll function Company Overview Company Industry: Financial Services Location: Bala-Cynwyd, PA Equal Opportunity Employer Statement Search Solution Group is an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to fostering an inclusive workplace where diversity is valued and respected.
