MEAT MANAGER

Position Overview Job Title: Meat Manager Grade/Level: High School or Equivalent FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Reports To: Store Manager Work Schedule: Shift hours suited to meat operation; nights and weekends may be required. Supervised Positions: Meat Clerk Position Summary Supervise workers engaged in preparing meat and responsible for profitability of the meat operation within company policy, in conjunction with the Store Manager. Essential Functions Maintain meat department paperwork and records daily and weekly. Provide all‑customer friendly, courteous, and prompt service; resolve customer complaints regarding food service. Train workers in food preparation, service, sanitation, and safety procedures. Inspect supplies, equipment, and work areas for efficient service and compliance with standards. Record and maintain accurate bookkeeping of weekly meeting purchases and monthly meat purchases. Observe and evaluate workers and work procedures to ensure quality standards and service. Assign duties, responsibilities, and workstations to employees according to work requirements. Maintain proper records to control shrink through inventory and ordering. Work within meat operations budget regarding gross profit and meat distribution. Analyze operational problems (theft, wastage) and establish procedures to alleviate them. Ensure product rotation when received and stocked. Recommend measures to improve work procedures and employee performance for service quality and job safety. Ensure that meat coolers and cases run at proper temperature. Use proper safety procedures. Complete proper markdowns as necessary. Properly record all hours worked; verify and sign the time ticket report. Inventory all products before preparing a meat order. Provide a four‑week period of meat inventory to management on a timely basis as instructed by the meat director. Perform tasks assigned by the store manager and/or assistant manager. Develop departmental objectives, budgets, policies, procedures, and strategies. Develop equipment maintenance schedules and arrange for repairs. Qualifications High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED). Experience Required – unspecified. Computer Skills – Basic.
