Adjunct Assistant Professor, Central Sterile Processing Technology (Allied Health Programs)

Job Summary The Sterile Processing Technology (SPT) program prepares students with experience, knowledge, and skills necessary to earn a nationally recognized industry credential and become a vital part of the surgical team. Under general supervision, the Adjunct Assistant Professor will develop, prepare, and teach a variety of coursework in the Central Sterile Processing discipline, delivering instruction in day, evening, or online formats. Part‑time instructional service will be compensated at a rate of $846 per semester credit hour and $33.84 per contact hour. Responsibilities Plans, organizes, and delivers instruction in didactic, laboratory, and classroom settings to promote student success and align with IAHCSMM curriculum guidelines. Supports and promotes the college and departmental missions centered on excellence in teaching and learning through quality instruction, curriculum enhancement, and timely service. Collaborates with the Chair, faculty, and peers to evaluate, revise, and develop curriculum that cultivates mastery of course content. Correlates clinical education with didactic education and evaluates student performance and learning. Demonstrates technological literacy and innovation in the delivery of instruction. Works collaboratively as part of a cohesive academic team, assisting with the implementation of college policies, objectives, and functions in accordance with the SF philosophy, mission, and strategic initiatives. Understands and enforces college and program policies, participating in departmental meetings and collegewide committees as needed. Provides students with frequent, timely assessment and clear feedback regarding academic performance, appropriately documenting progress and maintaining records including attendance and grading. Develops fair and accurate assessment methods for students’ progress toward learning outcomes. Maintains appropriate office hours proportionate to the instructional assignment. Assists and advises students with academic, clinical, and professional issues. Assists the Program Director with preparing reports for internal and external audiences. Coordinates, implements, and evaluates the clinical education component of the curriculum, including initiating and maintaining clinical affiliate contracts, student clinical rotation placement, and visits and evaluations. Ensures effective program operation and compliance with IAHCSMM, SACS, or other regulatory agency requirements. Assists in recruitment activities of the program and maintains current knowledge of Central Sterile Processing and educational methodologies through workshops, seminars, and conferences. Maintains good standing with credentialing and licensing bodies and honors student privacy and security according to state, federal, and college regulations. Complies with all published College rules, procedures, guidelines, and laws/regulations governing public employees, including FERPA and confidentiality. Provides service excellence through courteous, informed, accessible, and professional engagement. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications A master’s degree in Biological Sciences (e.g., Anatomy, Biochemistry, Biology, Biomedical Sciences, Histology, Kinesiology, Medical Sciences, Medicine, Pharmacology, Physiology, System Physiology, Veterinary Physiology, Pathology, Zoology, Sterile Processing, Surgical Technology, or Nursing); a professional degree (MSN, MD, DO, DC, DVM, PT, OT) may be accepted; or industry‑recognized credential with six (6) months of experience in sterile processing; or an associate’s degree and coordinating credential in an Allied Health program.
