Job Description
Job Title: RN, Nurse Lead

License: Registered Nurse licensure in the state of practice, required
Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), required


Must-Have:
- Bachelor's Degree in nursing or equivalent combination of education/related experience, required
- Master's Degree, preferred
- Supervisory experience or demonstrated supervisory skills, required


Description:
Provides unit-based leadership while collaborating with management and staff.
Supervises and directs the activities of nursing and ancillary personnel using judgment and professional discretion.
Ensures all patients receive cost-effective, professional care that results in positive outcomes and high patient satisfaction while maintaining patient safety.
Assesses and takes steps to improve the quality of patient experience.


Initiates and coordinates team conferences with healthcare members, patients, and/or families to revise care plans for optimal patient care.
Directs and monitors personnel performance to ensure adequate patient care and quality of work.
Participates in patient care as needed.
Fosters an environment of patient and family-centered care, paying attention to cultural diversity and individual needs.
Makes rounds to assess patient care needs and to introduce self to patients and families.
Solicits feedback on the quality of nursing services.


Provides interventions and develops systems to address patient care throughout the continuum.
Works with leadership to develop strategies that improve customer satisfaction for patients, families, and providers.
Investigates and resolves patient care and operational issues as needed.
Recommends policy/procedure changes in collaboration with management.
Ensures compliance with Patient Safety Goals and hospital policy through unit management.


Collaborates closely with clinical team members to implement systems and staff development activities.
Conducts ongoing assessments of department operations and patient care processes for improvement opportunities.
Facilitates data collection and participates in unit quality activities.
Assesses staffing requirements based on patient acuity and staff skills.
Assigns staff to patients and care activities based on professional analysis.


Manages staff schedules and requests for adjustments.
Plays a significant role in the performance evaluation of unit employees.
Coaches and disciplines personnel as necessary, including issuing warnings or suspensions.
Involved in hiring and terminating unit personnel decisions.
Instructs new personnel on job duties and assignments.


Works to assure that the department and equipment are maintained safely and operationally.
Facilitates repair of any malfunctioning equipment.
Ensures cleanliness within the department.
Keeps management informed of unit activities and special needs in a timely manner.
Maintains staffing costs within budget.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
