Job Title: Upper School Spanish Teacher and MLL Program Services Provider

Location: Ascent Classical Academy of Northern Denver (ACAND)-Brighton, CO

FLSA Status: Exempt

Reports to: Dean of Student Services

Work Hours/Days: 195 days following the school year calendar, usually from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.; .75 FTE Desired Start Date : August 2026

Wage Range: $44,000-48,000

Position Summary:

Ascent Classical Academy of Northern Denver (ACAND) is hiring a part-time Spanish Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. This position involves teaching 1 section of Spanish to high school students, as well as providing services for the Multi-Language Learners program.

Ascent Classical of Northern Denver is a growing school, offering grades K-10 for the 2026-2027 school year with plans to expand to K-12 by adding one grade per year. We seek teachers with high standards of excellence, a professional demeanor, a warm rapport with students, clear communication with parents, and a can-do attitude to join our team. The ideal candidate will be organized and devoted to helping students grow in wisdom and virtue.

Essential Functions:

• Prepare unit and lesson plans for Spanish Language in alignment with Hillsdale College's K12 Program Guide for each school year
• Provide small group services to English Language Learners
• Teach and mentor students, utilizing classical pedagogy methods
• Assign, collect, grade, and return graded work in a timely manner
• Monitor student progress and self-evaluate how best to support effective student learning
• Identify struggling or advanced students to provide additional support or academic extensions
• Collaborate with Students Services team to meet requirements of special educational plans, such as IEPs, 504s, and others
• Communicate regularly, usually weekly, with parents
• Assist in daily operations of the school (e.g., taking attendance, supervising student arrivals, passing periods in hallways, lunchtime and recess supervision) on a shared schedule
• Participate in professional development as offered by ACAND and Hillsdale College's K12 Office
• Maintain confidentiality in student records
• Promote a collegial, professional relationship with students, parents, and colleagues as a partner in the community of learners
• Perform related duties as directed

Requirements:

• Dedication to the mission and vision of Ascent Classical Academy of Northern Denver
• Commitment to high moral character necessary to sustain ordered liberty and constitutional self-government
• Bachelor's degree in Spanish, Classical Studies, English, or a related field, or equivalent experience (Teaching license NOT required). Must provide official college transcripts
• Demonstrated fluency in Spanish
• Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
• Proven ability to work in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment
• Ability to develop positive and professional relationships with students, parents, and colleagues
• Creative problem-solving skills
• Complete all required training and provide documentation as well as official college transcripts within 90 days of hire date
• Demonstrate consistent and reliable attendance by adhering to assigned work hours, reporting on time, and following proper procedures for absences or tardiness to ensure minimal disruption to students, colleagues, and school operations
• Demonstrate proficiency in both written and spoken English to effectively perform their job responsibilities and communicate in the workplace
• Adherence to all school policies.
• Perform other duties as assigned

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds
• Must be able to traverse the classroom and the school
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk, working on a computer
• Must be able to supervise outdoor duties
