Facilities Support Specialist

Position Summary: Under general supervision, the Maintenance Assistant/Porter is responsible for assisting with maintenance tasks, minor repairs, housekeeping duties, and supporting day-to-day facility operations. Tobacco-free workplace Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Performs basic repairs and improvements as needed (i.e. painting, changing light bulbs, and basic plumbing) to buildings and furnishings. Assists Facilities Manager with building utility system maintenance and repairs (i.e. electrical wiring and controls, heating and ventilation systems and plumbing systems). Maintains property landscape (i.e. mowing lawns, trimming hedges, removing weeds, disposing of leaves and refuse). Performs cleaning duties to ensure the environment is clean and safe. Duties include: cleaning classrooms, conference rooms, floors, restrooms, hallways and common areas; dusting, washing, pressure washing, and sanitizing other surface spaces in accordance with established procedures and guidelines and schedules. Receives deliveries, unpacks and stores supplies. Operates cleaning equipment (for example pressure washers, brooms, mops, vacuums, etc.) and uses designated chemicals and other cleaning products safely and in accordance with instructions. Collects and disposes of garbage and waste according to the organization's waste removal and recycling policies. Disinfects and cleans garbage and trash cans, and changes bags daily. Refills paper towels, tissue, toilet paper, and hand soap in all dispensers. Performs preventative maintenance and documentation such as changing air filters, monthly fire extinguisher checks, changing smoke detector batteries, etc. Informs the Facilities Manager of any pertinent issues or concerns or inventory shortages. Assists with setting up and breaking down furniture and equipment for meetings or events. Monitors building premises for safety hazards and reports any concerns to Facilities Manager.
