School Aide – Student Support (Special Education)

Position Overview

We are looking for a compassionate, dependable School Aide to provide instructional, behavioral, and/or physical support to students within a special education setting. In this role, you will collaborate closely with teachers, special education staff, and related service providers to help students thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

The ideal candidate is patient, team-oriented, and passionate about creating an inclusive learning environment where every student can succeed.

Key Responsibilities

• Support teachers and special education staff with classroom instruction, activities, and lesson implementation

• Provide individualized or small-group assistance to students with academic, behavioral, or developmental needs

• Implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and behavior intervention plans (BIPs) as directed

• Assist students with personal care, mobility, and daily living tasks when required

• Reinforce positive behaviors and contribute to a safe, structured, and supportive classroom environment

• Follow care plans and guidance provided by healthcare, therapy, or related professionals

• Communicate and collaborate effectively with teachers, therapists, and support staff

• Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to all district, state, and federal regulations

Minimum Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent

• Must be at least 18 years old

• Ability to meet all applicable federal, state, and local employment requirements

• Current TB clearance (PPD, questionnaire, or chest X-ray, as required)

• Current health certificate (if applicable)

• CPR certification (if required by district or assignment)

• Commitment to professional standards of practice and student safety

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience working with children or students, particularly in special education or support roles

• Familiarity with behavioral strategies, de-escalation techniques, or classroom management

• Strong communication and teamwork skills

• A patient, empathetic, and student-centered approach
