Desk Assistant

The Desk Assistant (DA) is the primary contact with residents at the front desk in the Residence Halls. Desk Assistants work assigned hours each week as a point of contact and assistance for current residents, their guests, and visitors to Missouri Western front desk.

Essential duties include answering questions and serving as a resource for residents and guests regarding the residence halls. Connecting residents to correct resources as needed, assisting residents with getting proper forms, checking out equipment to students, accepting deliveries and sorting mail, being observant of individuals who walk through the building and making note of any policy violations or safety issues, maintaining confidentiality of student information, and other duties as assigned.

Required qualifications include living in residence halls, meeting criteria for a student employee, maintaining a minimum overall 2.0 GPA, being enrolled full time for the duration of employment, degree seeking, qualifying for Federal Work Study, strong customer service and administrative skills, and being ready to begin training as assigned.

Preferred qualifications include strong customer service skills and the ability to move in August 23rd to prepare for training on August 24th/25th.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities include good judicial skills, strong customer service skills, and strong administrative skills.

Physical demands include light work: exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.

Additional demands include a desired start date of 08/23/2026, and duties to be performed in commons and residential halls.
