Job Title Senior Technical General Liability Bodily Injury Claims Specialist Summary We are looking for a highly capable Senior Technical General Liability Bodily Injury Claims Specialist to join our team and work from either our Los Angeles, CA or Omaha, NE offices, or alternatively from Albany, NY; Chicago, IL; New York City, NY; or Richmond, VA. This is a 100% in‑office position requiring on‑site work during standard business hours. The role reports to a manager in Los Angeles and focuses on adjudicating commercial General Liability Bodily Injury claims, contributing to superb results for our clients. Responsibilities Adjudicate general liability bodily injury claims at the highest authority limits on assignments reflecting the highest degree of technical complexity, potentially with major impact on departmental results. Conduct detailed information gathering, analysis, and investigation to find solutions to issues that are numerous and undefined. Report to senior management and underwriters. Investigate claims promptly and thoroughly, including interviewing all involved parties. Analyze claims forms, policies, endorsements, client instructions, and other records to determine whether the loss falls within the policy coverage. Manage claims in litigation and maintain an organized diary to ensure cases move toward the best financial outcome and timely resolution. Properly set claim reserves. Identify, assign, and coordinate the assignment and coordination of expertise resources to assist in case resolution. Prepare reports for file documentation. Apply creative solutions to achieve the best financial outcome. Negotiate settlements. Prioritize workload and process mail. Complete telephone calls and written correspondence to and from insureds, claimants, and other parties. Demonstrate an appreciation and passion for strong claim management. Qualifications Good business acumen—understand how an insurance company operates and makes money, including how this role impacts company profitability. Deep knowledge of General Liability Bodily Injury claims and exceptional customer service focus. Minimum of seven years’ experience adjudicating General Liability Bodily Injury claims with extensive exposure of $100,000 or more. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university required; or two or more insurance designations or four additional years of related experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree. Obtain a license in each jurisdiction requiring a license to adjudicate first‑party claims within 90 days of hire. Independent, sound judgment with excellent communication skills and the ability to build lasting relationships. Strong claim negotiation skills and proactive, pragmatic approach to negotiation. Strong customer focus, effective time management skills, and the ability to prioritize workload while handling multiple tasks and deadlines. Ability to articulate the financial value of your work at multiple responsibility levels. Discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance. Proficiency in MS Office Suite; experience with Guidewire strongly preferred. Polished written and verbal communication skills; fluency in reading and writing English. Pay & Benefits Pay ranges: Albany and Chicago: $151,000 – $181,250 Los Angeles and New York City: $165,000 – $198,000 Benefits include health, dental, vision, 401(k) with company match, paid time off, and professional development opportunities.
