Medical Laboratory Scientist/Technologist

A brief overview follows laboratory policies and procedures to perform high and moderate complexity testing. Performs pre-analytical and post-analytical laboratory support functions. What you will do:

• Accurately and efficiently performs pre-analytical, analytical and post analytical processes for laboratory testing
• Maintains and troubleshoots laboratory equipment according to manufacturer's instructions
• Performs and evaluates all required quality control assessments as described in departmental policies and procedures prior to reporting patient results
• Evaluates results of laboratory tests according to laboratory protocols to ensure quality patient care
• Documents all laboratory activities according to policies and procedures
• Maintains and demonstrates competency assessment in assigned area
• Takes responsibility for self-development
• Completes all assigned mandatory assignments within allowed timelines
• Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in a chemical, biological or clinical laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited institution; requirement specific in CLIA '88 to perform high complexity testing
• Bachelor's Degree in other field and Associate's Degree in clinical laboratory science and certification by ASCP or equivalent are also acceptable
• Less than 1 year entry level work experience
