Medical Laboratory Technician / Scientist

Cleveland Diagnostics, Inc. is developing highly efficacious, lab-friendly, affordable diagnostic tests using proprietary technology to improve cancer diagnostics. This position is not remote. Job Overview The Medical Laboratory Technician/Scientist will perform high complexity tests in the CLIA laboratory at Cleveland Diagnostics and support the R&D team by performing analytical procedures, including testing of specimens and blood products supporting the development and commercialization of pipeline products. Responsibilities and Duties Performs moderate and high complexity analytical processes without direct supervision, including operation of immunoassay analyzers, clinical chemistry analyzers, and standard wet chemistry equipment such as pH meters, spectrophotometers, and automated liquid handlers. Ensures accuracy of test results by performing quality control testing, instrument maintenance, and troubleshooting. Maintains regulatory knowledge and awareness as it pertains to job duties. Adheres to the company’s quality control policies; documents all quality control activities, including calibrations and maintenance performed, and may develop and implement additional quality control policies to support product development. Maintains instruments and equipment in accordance with manufacturer’s specifications. Maintains clear and legible records. Plans, organizes, performs, and monitors daily project activities. Responsible for materials management, including effective utilization of supplies and monitoring inventory to maintain suitable stock. Provides technical support to R&D projects by performing laboratory and analytical procedures, including testing of specimens supporting the development and commercialization of pipeline products. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications BA/BS in chemical, biological, or clinical laboratory science. MT(ASCP) or MLS(ASCP) certification preferred. Two years of experience working in a clinical or CLIA lab environment preferred; one year required. Experience operating and maintaining Roche Cobas e411 and/or 6000 clinical chemistry and immunoassay analyzers preferred. Experience working with and/or developing ELISA assays preferred. Understands and complies with good laboratory practices including safety, HIPAA, confidentiality, and regulatory requirements. Excellent aptitude for troubleshooting laboratory equipment. Possesses effective critical thinking, interpersonal and communication skills, and decisive judgment. Proficient in Microsoft Office products and computer skills. Physical Requirements Fine motor skills and manual dexterity to handle specimens and lab equipment. May be required to stand for long periods of time. Visual acuity to examine specimens and reagents. Ability to distinguish colors. Light lifting; raises up to 50 lbs; elevator access required, and ability to climb stairs if needed. May be exposed to hazardous chemicals, biohazards, and radioactive materials. Requires punctual daily in-person attendance. Other Requirements This position is not remote.
