CNC Machinist – 1st Shift

Shift: 1st Shift | Monday – Thursday | 5:00 AM – 3:00 PM Pay: $25.00 – $30.00 per hour (Based on Experience)

Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced CNC Machinist to join our 1st shift team. This position is responsible for setting up and operating CNC vertical and horizontal milling machines to produce high-quality precision machined components while maintaining tight tolerances and meeting production requirements. The ideal candidate has strong setup experience, can edit CNC programs, interpret blueprints, and is comfortable machining a variety of metals.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC vertical and horizontal milling machines.
• Perform machining operations including milling, boring, drilling, threading, facing, grinding, and tapering.
• Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, job travelers, and work instructions.
• Edit CNC programs and make machine adjustments as needed to maintain quality and production standards.
• Select appropriate tooling and cutting parameters based on material specifications.
• Measure and inspect finished parts using micrometers, calipers, verniers, and other precision measuring equipment.
• Hold tolerances to ±.001".
• Troubleshoot machining, tooling, and program issues and recommend corrective actions.
• Complete inspection reports and maintain accurate production documentation.
• Operate hand tools and material handling equipment, including forklifts and overhead cranes when needed.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Follow all company safety and quality procedures.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years of CNC machining experience, including setup and operation of vertical and horizontal mills.
• Ability to read, edit, and troubleshoot CNC programs.
• Experience using G-Code and M-Code.
• Strong blueprint reading skills.
• Ability to hold tight tolerances to ±.001".
• Proficient with precision measuring instruments including micrometers, calipers, verniers, and tape measures.
• Knowledge of cutting tools, machining practices, and tooling applications.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Experience with a 4-jaw chuck setup is a plus.
• Experience machining a variety of metals is preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Stand and walk throughout a 10-hour shift in a manufacturing environment.
• Lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
• Safely operate forklifts and overhead cranes when required.
• Perform bending, reaching, climbing, and other physical tasks associated with machining operations.
