Biology

Job Summary

The Student Assistant will support the Department of Biology as a Lab Technician on the Armstrong Campus beginning Fall 2026.

Student employees cannot work more than 1300 hours in a 12-consecutive month period.

Responsibilities

• Assists with the setup and breakdown of laboratory courses
• Prepares materials for student laboratory exercises, including chemical solutions and bacteriological growth media
• Maintains the cleanliness and organization of laboratory spaces and the laboratory preparation room by washing glassware, sterilizing materials, and performing general housekeeping duties

Shift Specifics

• Up to 8 hours per week
• Flexible with schedule of availability

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements

• Must be enrolled in six or more undergraduate credit hours or three or more graduate credit hours at Georgia Southern University.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Education

• Successful completion of at least one University science course with a lab

Preferred Experience

• Experience working in a lab environment
• Demonstrated experience with the ability to take initiative and problem solve

Proposed Salary

$12.00 per hour

This is a non-exempt position paid on a biweekly basis.
