Recreation Supervisor

Responsibilities Monitor the use of the Community Center on a given shift. Assist in planning, organizing, coordinating, and administering community recreation programs for seniors, adults, and youth, including cultural arts, physical activities, special interest classes, and summer programs. Assist in the implementation of activities, classes, and programs, including cultural arts, physical activities, and special interest activities. Open and close Parks & Recreation facilities. Set up tables and chairs for classes and programs. Perform evening and weekend custodial and maintenance work (sweeping, cleaning, stocking bathrooms, wiping down kitchen areas, mopping floors, and other custodial or maintenance tasks as required). Provide passive security for the recreation center and grounds. Assist recreation staff in developing and implementing community recreation programs. Assist in supervising classes, workshops, and activities for participants in recreation programs and co-sponsored programs. Respond to public inquiries about recreation programs by telephone, correspondence, or during public meetings. Promote interest in and provide information about recreation programs to school officials, other recreation officials, community service groups, and the general public. Assist patrons in proper use of games and instruct them in general rules of games and activities. Qualifications Graduation from High School or GED equivalent. One year of related experience, including community center use, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Certification in First Aid and CPR, or ability to obtain upon hire. Ability to coordinate varied activities involved in a community recreation program. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, other agencies, participants, instructors, community leaders, and the general public; and to communicate effectively, orally and in writing. Valid State Driver’s License, or ability to obtain one. Must occasionally lift or move up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required: close vision and ability to adjust focus. Must be able to sit frequently. Must be able to speak and understand English. Must be able to reach for and use required tools, objects, or equipment.
