Job Title Krahn Interpreter Location Work at Home – United States Position Type Independent Contractor Pay $0.75–$0.90 per minute Benefits and Opportunities Employee Referral Program Advancement opportunities within the organization Interpreter support and a diverse work environment Independent contractor position — not eligible for employee benefits Position Overview The Krahn Telephone Interpreter handles calls on demand, translating between Krahn and English speakers across industries such as healthcare, government, insurance, finance, utilities, travel, hospitality, business, law enforcement, courts, and 911. The interpreter processes information quickly, maintains cultural sensitivity, and uses appropriate terminology. This remote position requires a quiet, secure work environment. Essential Job Functions Respond promptly to interpreting sessions and conduct interpretation professionally. Render correct concepts and meanings according to established interpretation protocols. Speak clearly in both languages using proper pronunciation and polite expressions. Maintain a professional demeanor throughout sessions. Remain calm during sessions, especially in emergency situations. Maintain punctuality and availability during work hours. Follow client instructions and avoid unauthorized interaction with the Limited English‑speaking Person. Understand industry‑specific protocol and terminology, including medical, insurance, and finance. Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and work in a diverse environment. Qualifications Fluency in Krahn and English with strong cultural competency. Excellent listening, retention, and note‑taking skills for high accuracy. Ability to concentrate, remain detached, and maintain neutrality during sensitive conversations. Education or relevant experience in translation, interpretation, or language teaching preferred. At least 18 years of age. Legal authorization to work in the United States without requiring future visa sponsorship. High school diploma or equivalent. Read and write in the requested languages highly preferred. Technical Requirements Dedicated personal device (desktop, laptop, tablet, or smartphone). Operating system: Windows, macOS, or ChromeOS. High‑speed internet: ≥5Mbps download, ≥3Mbps upload, ping ≤300ms, jitter ≤30ms. Quiet space free from background noise or distractions. Physical Requirements Operate a keyboard and mouse in a stationary position for the majority of the day. Operate company software and systems independently. Typing or writing dexterity sufficient for daily tasks. Ability to lift up to 26lbs. May be exposed to moderate noise levels from computers, audio, and telephone.
