Metropolitan State Hospital is located in the City of Norwalk. This advertisement will run until filled with cutoff dates for review of applications every Friday. Interviews will NOT be conducted for this recruitment. Conditional job offers will be made to candidates who meet the minimum qualifications and have eligibility and satisfactory references. Candidates must have a current and active Psychiatric Technician License with no disciplinary actions.

The Department of State Hospitals Metropolitan is now accepting applications for multiple full-time, permanent Psychiatric Technician positions. Under general supervision, incumbents administer care to forensic, LPS and medically fragile patients; assist in planning and evaluation of nursing care; provide a basic level of general behavioral and psychiatric nursing care; and are expected to facilitate the rehabilitation of forensic clients and patients.

Candidates must be willing to work in any unit/program and any shift to meet the needs of the facility.

Training expectations: If selected, it is mandatory that you attend New Employee Orientation (NEO) in its entirety. NEO can be scheduled Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. for up to 30 days for level of care staff (clinical).

Minimum qualifications: Possession of a valid license to practice as a Psychiatric Technician issued by the BVNPTE. (Applicants who are within four months of completing the Psychiatric Technician curriculum accredited by the BVNPTE will be admitted to the examination, but they must secure this license before they will be eligible for appointment.) Eligibility examination: To be considered for this job opportunity, applicants must have eligibility by way of: permanent civil service status, be reachable on an employment list, have transfer eligibility, or have reinstatement eligibility.
