Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Make a lasting impact on students’ lives by providing critical support during Extended School Year (ESY) services as a Special Education Teacher this summer! This contract opportunity is available for highly skilled SPED teachers in the Lees Summit, MO area who are passionate about fostering growth and independence for students with diverse needs.
In this role, you’ll work within either a high school GOALS classroom or an elementary essential skills setting, delivering personalized instruction and support. The assignment runs from June 1 through June 25, Monday through Thursday, with a total of 25 hours each week—perfect for educators looking for a focused, impactful summer position.
Qualifications:
- Valid Special Education Teacher certification in Missouri (SPED teacher cert in MO required)
- Prior experience working within special education settings, ideally at either the high school or elementary levels
- Passion for creating an inclusive, supportive environment for students of all abilities
- Strong communication skills, collaboration, and adaptability in dynamic classroom settings
- Experience with ESY services is a plus
Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver individualized instruction tailored to student needs in either GOALS (high school) or essential skills (elementary) classrooms
- Collaborate with education teams and families to support each student’s learning goals
- Maintain a positive, structured environment that fosters academic and personal growth
- Implement behavior management strategies and IEP goals with consistency and compassion
- Document progress and provide feedback to school staff and parents
