About the Role

A private family in Englewood, New Jersey is seeking a talented, enthusiastic chef with a passion for exceptional ingredients and preparing fresh, delicious, healthy meals.

We are looking for someone who genuinely enjoys food—not just cooking, but discovering excellent ingredients, exploring specialty markets, and building relationships with quality suppliers.

Driving, ingredient sourcing, and coordinating with suppliers are important parts of this position. The chef will regularly visit local markets and specialty food suppliers, seek out the freshest meats, seafood, fruits, and vegetables, and identify exceptional ingredients from both local and international sources.

Meals will be prepared in a newly built professional kitchen in Englewood and delivered to the family's nearby residence.

We welcome applications from both experienced chefs and promising qualified culinary professionals early in their careers. Previous private-chef experience is not required. We care most about cooking ability, enthusiasm, initiative, and attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare a light daily lunch for the principal and dinner for the family, generally five to six days per week.
• Plan varied, healthy, and flavorful menus based on the family's preferences and feedback.
• Personally source excellent ingredients, including frequent visits to markets, specialty food shops, and suppliers.
• Identify and develop relationships with suppliers offering exceptional fresh and specialty ingredients.
• Package and deliver prepared meals to the family's nearby residence.
• Accommodate dietary preferences, restrictions, and occasional special requests.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked professional kitchen.
• Occasionally prepare meals for guests or special occasions.
