Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Multiple positions are open with a primary emphasis on Elementary Self-Contained classrooms, serving students with diverse needs in classrooms typically ranging from 4–6 students. Some roles are also available at the high school level.

District priorities focus on Elementary Self-Contained educators, making this an excellent role for those passionate about individualized instruction. Onsite positions are available and the district conducts in-person interviews at a centrally located site in Birmingham, AL.

Key Qualifications:

• Valid SPED licensure required (verify through Alabama Department of Education)
• For elementary roles: K–6 certification
• For secondary roles: 6–12 certification
• Willingness to specify preferred caseload/age group during application
• Prepared to indicate home zip code and acceptable commute
• Ability to manage small, self-contained classroom settings
• Previous experience in similar school environments preferred
• Candidates with experience at the hiring district should specify this background

Essential Responsibilities:

• Deliver specialized instructional support to students in self-contained or high school settings
• Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families
• Develop, implement, and monitor individualized education programs (IEPs)
