Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

This opportunity focuses on providing specialized educational services to students in self-contained elementary classrooms, with additional openings in high schools. Engaged educators will work with small groups, typically 4-6 students per self-contained classroom, making a direct and lasting impact through personalized teaching and care.

Key Qualifications:

• Valid Special Education (SPED) certification for Alabama (verify credentials at
  • Elementary positions require K-6 certification
  • Secondary positions require 6-12 certification
  • Dual endorsements are welcome if they match applied caseload/age group
• Strong commitment to fostering inclusive, adaptive learning environments
• Experience supporting students with a variety of disabilities and educational needs
• Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills with staff and families
• Prior experience in self-contained classrooms preferred, but motivated newer teachers are encouraged to apply

Responsibilities:

• Deliver individualized instruction to students in self-contained elementary or high school settings
• Develop and implement IEPs in collaboration with school teams and families
• Maintain a safe, supportive, and engaging classroom culture
• Monitor and document student progress, adapting interventions as needed
• Communicate closely with parents, paraprofessionals, and support staff

Other Details:

• Contract runs from August 6th, 2026 to May 27th, 2027
• Full-time hours (37.5/week), onsite in Birmingham, AL
• Onsite interviews are required at the district office
