Beckhoff Controls Programmer – Detroit, MI (Contract)

Location: Detroit Metro Area, Michigan (Exact Worksite TBD) Job Type: Contract / Project-Based Contract Duration: 3–4 Months (Potential Extension) Start Date: Mid-November 2026 Schedule: Day Shift | Monday–Friday Hours: Approximately 50 Hours per Week, with Potential Overtime and Weekend Work Open Positions: 2

Job Overview

We are seeking two experienced Beckhoff Controls Programmers for a contract opportunity in the Detroit, Michigan area. Ideal candidates will have strong experience in Beckhoff TwinCAT, PLC Programming, Industrial Automation, and Controls System Troubleshooting.

This position involves supporting industrial controls projects through PLC Software Development, Controls Integration, System Debugging, Equipment Startup, Commissioning, and Production Support.

Candidates should have approximately 3–6 years of hands-on Beckhoff Controls Programming experience. Highly skilled programmers with strong experience on other PLC Platforms may also be considered, even with fewer years of direct Beckhoff experience.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Controls Programmer, PLC Programmer, or Automation Controls Specialist seeking a contract assignment involving industrial automation programming, startup, and commissioning.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, program, troubleshoot, and support Beckhoff PLC Control Systems using TwinCAT Software.
• Perform PLC Programming, controls configuration, and Industrial Automation System Integration activities.
• Troubleshoot and debug PLC Programs, control logic, and automation system performance issues.
• Support Machine Startup, Equipment Commissioning, and industrial control system implementation.
• Perform Controls System Testing, verification, and validation to support reliable equipment operation.
• Diagnose automation and controls-related problems during equipment startup and production activities.
• Provide Production Support by identifying, troubleshooting, and resolving PLC and controls-related issues.
• Collaborate with project personnel during system design, integration, startup, and commissioning phases.
• Evaluate controls system functionality and support performance improvements through programming adjustments and debugging.
• Work independently on assigned programming, troubleshooting, and commissioning activities as project requirements dictate.

Required Qualifications

• Approximately 3–6 Years of Beckhoff Controls Programming Experience preferred.
• Demonstrated proficiency with Beckhoff TwinCAT Programming Software.
• Strong knowledge of PLC Programming, Industrial Controls, and Automation Systems.
• Hands-on experience with PLC Troubleshooting, Controls Debugging, and problem resolution.
• Experience supporting Industrial Equipment Startup and Controls System Commissioning.
• Ability to perform PLC Testing, system validation, and troubleshooting of automation-related issues.
• Experience providing Manufacturing Production Support or industrial automation project support.
• Intermediate to senior-level programming capabilities, with the ability to independently resolve technical issues.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and technical problem-solving abilities.
• Availability for a project-based assignment in the Detroit, Michigan area.

Experience flexibility: Candidates with fewer than three years of Beckhoff-specific experience may be considered if they demonstrate exceptional programming skills and substantial experience with other industrial PLC platforms.

Preferred Qualifications

• Background in Industrial Automation Projects, including controls integration, system startup, or commissioning.
• Experience supporting multiple phases of Controls Engineering Projects, from design and integration through startup.
• Broad experience with PLC Software, programming methodologies, and troubleshooting industrial automation systems.
• Experience working in manufacturing or production environments requiring hands-on controls support.
• Ability to adapt programming experience from other PLC platforms to Beckhoff Automation Systems.

Project Details and Schedule

This contract assignment supports an industrial automation project in the greater Detroit, Michigan area.

The project involves design, integration, programming, startup, commissioning, troubleshooting, and production support activities.

The anticipated assignment will begin in mid-November 2026 and continue for approximately three to four months, with a possible extension depending on project requirements.

Work Schedule:

• Day shift, Monday through Friday
• Approximately 50 hours per week
• Potential overtime and weekend assignments
• Additional weekend or holiday requirements to be determined
