Job Full Description

We have an opening for a CNC Machinist position working at a company located in Decatur, AL that provides full-service contract manufacturing specializing in precision CNC metal machining. This is an evaluation-to-hire opportunity with potential for full-time placement.

*** A MINIMUM OF 5-YEARS EXPERIENCE OPERATING CNC MACHINES IS REQUIRED ***

Skills/Qualifications


At least five years of experience operating CNC machines.


Comfortable using tools and maintaining machinery.


Familiarity with programming and interpreting CNC interfaces, in particular Fanuc controllers.


Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.


Proven experience as a Swiss Lathe CNC Programmer.


Expertise in Mastercam software for CAD/CAM programming.


Proficiency in hand programming G-code and M-code.


In-depth knowledge of Fanuc controls and Mitsubishi controls.


Extensive experience with multi-spindle and multi-turret lathes.


Strong understanding and practical application of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).


Demonstrated ability in designing special tooling.


Solid experience with live-tooling applications.


Proficient in the use of macros in CNC programming.


Excellent problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude.


Highly organized with strong attention to detail.


Ability to work independently and as part of a team.


At least five years of related experience required.


High school diploma or equivalent.

Duties/Responsibilities


Reads and interprets blueprints.


Plans machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, orthographic drawings, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).


Create product blueprints and drawings with detailed GD&T specifications for products and tooling designs.


Ability to design jigs, fixtures, multi-part holdings and templates to assist with production efficiency.


Ability to write and edit programs manually.


Develop, write, and edit CNC programs for Swiss-type lathes using Mastercam software and through hand programming.


Optimize existing programs for efficiency, quality, and reduced cycle times.


Demonstrate strong knowledge of Fanuc controls and Mitsubishi controls for machine operation and troubleshooting.


Set up and operate multi-spindle and multi-turret lathes, ensuring proper tool offsets, workholding, and machine parameters.


Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications with a solid understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).


Design special tooling as needed to meet part specifications and optimize manufacturing processes.


Utilize and program for live tooling applications to create complex geometries.


Implement and utilize macros within programs to enhance efficiency and flexibility.


Perform first-piece inspections and in-process quality checks to ensure parts meet all dimensional and surface finish requirements.


Troubleshoot and resolve machining issues, including tool wear, material variations, and machine alarms.


Collaborate with engineers and manufacturing personnel to improve processes and optimize part manufacturability.


Maintain a highly organized work environment, ensuring proper documentation of programs, setups, and tooling.


Assist in the quoting process.


Assist Quality with inspection plans.


Adhere to all safety protocols and company procedures.
