The Sr. Clerk position provides administrative and technical support to the Dental Department. This entry level-administrative position is responsible for dealing directly with the public by providing program information, answering client questions, verifying insurance coverage, and entering data into several computer databases. The incumbent must be detail-oriented and able to multitask.

Your Specific Responsibilities:

• Completes client check in and check out processes.
• Resolves routine billing errors and omissions with clinic staff.
• Verifies client insurance eligibility information in Change Healthcare System.
• Answers routine billing questions from staff and clients.
• Scans and attaches documents to client medical records.
• Processes requests for copies of medical/dental records in accordance with State law and HIPAA.
• Uses various office equipment including telephones, fax, copy machines and scanners.
• Orders supplies for dental office area when needed.
• Performs front desk clerical duties which will include a combination of client registration, answering telephones, data entry and scheduling appointments.
• Registers clients, completes necessary forms, ensuring accurate and up-to-date data for demographic, insurance and financial information is entered and scanned into HMS/Eaglesoft.
• Schedules, cancels and reschedule appointments.
• Interviewing clients by phone or in person to determine types of services needed and makes appropriate appointments.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Ability to prepare and maintain charts and reports
• Skilled in Computer software application (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc)
• Knowledge of general office procedures and practices.

Qualifications:

• Minimum - Must be willing to accept this salary if offered the position
• Must have at least 1 year of answering telephone calls in an office setting
• Must have at least 1 year of experience working in a customer service environment that provides face to face interaction
• Must be willing to physically come in the office to perform the duties & responsibilities of the positions
• Must have experience scheduling medical/dental appointments
• Must have experience in the medical/dental healthcare field
• Preferred - HMS experience preferred
• Change Health experience preferred
• Bilingual Spanish speaking preferred
