Job Title: RN Stroke/Neuro PCU Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: PCU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night 4x12-Hour Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 1 year preferred License: Active RN license required Certifications: ACLS BLS NIHSS Must-Have: Epic charting experience required Neuro PCU experience preferred Description: The position involves caring for patients in a Stroke/Neuro PCU. The shift hours are from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM. There may be an every-other-weekend requirement or six weekend shifts within a six-week scheduling block. Requests for time off must be included with the submission. The facility reserves the right to cancel one shift every two weeks. Candidates must work one holiday during the contract. First-time travelers are accepted, but travel experience is preferred. Areas accepted for local candidates are defined by specific radius criteria. Pending licenses will be accepted only if candidates hold a single-state license from a non-compact state. The unit specializes in hospitalist medicine, including stroke and neurology patients. The average nurse-patient ratio is typically 1:5, with a staffing goal of 1:4. The unit is a certified primary stroke center. The facility provides various advanced specialty care services. Floating within skillset may be required. Clinical skills required include cardiac monitoring, emergency response, and dysrhythmia management. Candidates should have IV therapy and medication administration experience, including cardiac drips (without titration). Experience with respiratory support and isolation precautions is necessary. Telemetry monitoring is performed on the unit, with additional Patient Care Tech coverage. Candidates should have a strong background in managing IV drips for various medications. There are opportunities for professional development through interdisciplinary support available on the unit.
