Job Title: RN Surgical PCU Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: PCU Duration: 26 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours (18:45 - 07:15) Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience required License: Active Virginia State or Compact RN/LPN license required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Ventilator care experience required Description: Position available for a Registered Nurse in Surgical PCU. Experience in managing ventilator care for chronic trach patients is essential. The shift duration is 12 hours, from 18:45 to 07:15. Charting experience in EPIC is required. Staffing goal ratios are typically 1:4, with the average being 1:5. The clinical setting is a stepdown from the General Surgical ICU. Bariatric specialty care is provided, along with trauma unit backup. The unit has two beds dedicated to chronic trach patients. Oxygen support includes CPAP and BiPAP. Key responsibilities include cardiac monitoring and emergency response. Dysrhythmia interpretation and management are crucial clinical skills. IV therapy, phlebotomy, and blood product administration are required skills. Medication administration includes various cardiac drips, though titration is not involved. Rapid response and code team activation are expected. Isolation precautions and telemetry settings across different units must be observed. The facility has a large acute care setup with over 700 licensed operating beds. It is recognized as a trauma center and offers advanced specialty care, including surgical services. Weekend coverage may involve working every other weekend or six shifts over six weeks. Holidays must be worked as part of the contract. Float within the skillset may be required based on staffing needs. Compliance with COVID-19 and Flu vaccine requirements is mandatory. RTO and scheduling requests must be submitted as needed.
