Patient Registrar

- Schedule: FT, M-F 9AM-5PM
- Greet and register patients in a tactful and courteous manner.
- Obtain all pertinent patient demographic and insurance information and enter into the appropriate computer system.
- Pre-register patients in the NewYork-Presbyterian Medical Group (NYPMG) online system.
- Perform insurance verification checks for Medicare, Medicaid, and/or Company in the Medical Group billing system.
- Schedule and maintain daily appointment schedules considering resource availability.
- Request and manage patient charts and ensure necessary test results and information are recorded.
- Retrieve laboratory and radiographic data from clinic information systems and laboratories.
- Interface with referring offices and internal departments/practices to schedule patient exams.
- Request and obtain valid physician requisitions for all exams and process information for timely billing.
- Prepare all pertinent paperwork, including authorizations and testing requisitions.
- Notify patients of financial obligations for elective admissions and establish payment arrangements.
- Counsel patients regarding payment options, Medicaid eligibility, and charity care qualifications.
- Collect co-payments and fees and issue receipts to patients.
- Assist in compiling data for routine statistical reports and summaries.
- Education: HS Diploma
- Experience: One year of clerical experience
- Customer service experience
- Data entry skills of 4500 keystrokes
- Effective communication skills
- Telephone skills, computer skills, keyboard skills, customer service skills
- Knowledge of health insurance benefits/requirements
- Knowledge of Coding: ICD 9, CPT-4
- Mandarin/Cantonese language skills preferred
