Process Engineering Technician

The Process Engineering Technician supports manufacturing operations by developing, maintaining, and improving production processes, documentation, and system data. This role works closely with Engineering, Production, Planning, and Quality teams to ensure that manufacturing processes are accurate, efficient, and thoroughly documented. The position spends significant time on the production floor, supporting process improvements, validating manufacturing methods, and assisting with new product introductions and production launches.

Responsibilities

• Create, maintain, and audit Bills of Materials (BOMs) and manufacturing routings within the ERP system to ensure accurate and reliable production data.
• Develop and update work instructions, process documentation, setup sheets, and other manufacturing documentation to support consistent and efficient operations.
• Verify manufacturing processes on the production floor to confirm that documentation accurately reflects current production practices and methods.
• Conduct time studies and analyze production processes to identify opportunities to improve efficiency, quality, and productivity.
• Support the implementation of new manufacturing processes, equipment, tooling, and fixtures to enhance production capabilities.
• Assist with new product introductions, engineering changes, and production launches by preparing and updating required process and production documentation.
• Collaborate closely with Engineering, Production, Planning, and Quality teams to troubleshoot and resolve process-related issues.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives, including Lean Manufacturing, 5S, waste reduction, and process optimization activities.
• Maintain accurate manufacturing data and documentation to support operational excellence and reliable reporting.
• Participate in projects focused on improving safety, quality, productivity, and cost performance across the manufacturing operation.

Essential Skills

• Associate degree in Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Technology, Industrial Technology, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
• Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred, with exposure to production processes and workflows.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to manage documentation and process data accurately.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and manufacturing documentation.
• Proficiency with ERP systems for managing BOMs, routings, and production data.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word, for data analysis and documentation.
• Strong communication skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams and production personnel.
• Strong problem-solving skills to identify process issues and develop practical solutions.
• Ability to work effectively on the production floor and collaborate with various departments.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with process improvement, Lean Manufacturing, or continuous improvement initiatives.
• Familiarity with manufacturing routings, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and production documentation practices.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes, tooling, and production workflows.
• Ability to analyze processes and recommend practical improvements to increase efficiency and quality.
• CAD experience as a plus for reviewing or updating engineering and process-related drawings.
• Experience supporting documentation quality assurance and maintaining high standards of process documentation.
• Background in continuous improvement and process optimization methodologies.

Work Environment

This role operates primarily within a manufacturing environment and requires regular presence on the production floor to observe, validate, and improve processes. The technician works closely with Engineering, Production, Planning, and Quality teams, using ERP systems, Microsoft Office applications, and manufacturing documentation tools. The environment emphasizes safety, quality, and continuous improvement, with a strong focus on Lean Manufacturing, 5S, waste reduction, and process optimization. The position involves hands-on interaction with production equipment, tooling, and fixtures, and supports a collaborative, cross-functional culture dedicated to operational excellence.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Youngstown, OH.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.
