Payroll Specialist

Responsibilities A client of Kforce is seeking a Payroll Specialist to join their growing team in Saint Louis, MO. This position offers the opportunity to work in a collaborative and fast‑paced environment, supporting day‑to‑day payroll operations while contributing to process improvements and operational growth initiatives. The ideal candidate will be adaptable, detail‑oriented, and comfortable navigating both routine responsibilities and evolving processes as the company continues to expand. Review, verify, and process employee timecards accurately and timely. Reconcile payroll submissions and ensure payroll data integrity. Respond to employee payroll questions and resolve discrepancies or concerns. Calculate wages, commissions, bonuses, taxes, and payroll deductions. Maintain and update payroll records in compliance with company policies and regulations. Prepare recurring payroll reports and assist with payroll analysis as needed. Research and resolve state and local payroll tax issues. Assist with setting up unemployment and withholding accounts for new state registrations. Requirements Bachelor's degree in HR, Business, Accounting or related field. CPP or FPC preferred. Excellent math, analytical, and communication skills. Strong numerical reasoning skills. Proven work experience with multi‑state, multi‑entity payroll preferred. Knowledge of payroll taxes preferred. Knowledge of Paycor, our payroll software preferred. Compensation and Benefits The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future. We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law.
