About the Position

Job Title: RN - PCU/MS Float Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Progressive Care Unit/Medical Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Active Virginia State or Compact RN/LPN license required Certifications: ACLS, BLS Must-Have: - EPIC experience required - Experience in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and blood product administration - Skilled in central line care, trach management, and non-invasive airway support - Proficient in cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation - Capable of managing PCA and heparin protocols Description: Position involves working in all Progressive Care Unit and Medical Surgical units. Traveler may float 2-3 times per shift based on staffing needs. Weekend requirement may be every other weekend or six shifts in a six-week scheduling block. Holiday requirement includes working one holiday per 13-week contract. First-time travelers are welcome. Pending licenses are accepted if they are from non-compact states. Required clinical skills include managing dysrhythmias, titrating cardiac drips, and responding to emergencies. Background should include telemetry and step-down level care experience. Average patient ratios are 5:1 for PCU and up to 6:1 for Medical Surgical, with a maximum of 7:1 as needed. Facility is recognized for nursing excellence and features advanced specialty care. Comprehensive interdisciplinary support services are available. Patient demographics include adults and geriatrics. Standard protocols require teamwork and collaboration among healthcare professionals.
