Patient Services Specialist - Hematology Oncology

Description The Patient Services Coordinator performs reception, registration, insurance authorization, chart preparation, telephone triaging, and co-pay collection for the Medical Oncology practice. Strong communication and problem solving skills around patient care and clinic matters are essential. Compassion, sensitivity, and emotional stability are necessary when working with the Oncology population. This position acts as a professional liaison with patients, families, and other departments, and supports timely and accurate completion of duties. The role may include training new staff and participating in special project assignments as directed, with an exceptional customer service approach to optimize the Oncology patient experience. Responsibilities Handle reception, registration, insurance authorization, chart preparation, and co-pay collection for the Medical Oncology practice. Perform telephone triage and coordinate communication between patients, families, and clinical staff. Provide professional liaison support with patients, families, and other departments. Assist in orienting and training new staff. Manage multiple responsibilities and adapt to interruptions while maintaining accuracy and timeliness. Qualifications Associate’s Degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school with emphasis in Health Care. 1 year of related experience in a healthcare setting (e.g., physician’s office, scheduler).
