The Opportunity
CCWD is seeking two Temporary Clerical Workers to support a variety of departments across CCWD. This is an excellent opportunity for adaptable administrative professionals who enjoy variety, learning new processes, and contributing wherever support is needed most. The role offers a dynamic work environment with varied assignments that can help candidates broaden their experience, strengthen administrative skills, and develop familiarity with working for a special district and water utility operations. Assignments may support multiple functional areas including administrative services, customer support, finance, human resources, operations, and executive support.

Temporary Clerical Workers are utilized on an as-needed basis to support employee absences, temporary vacancies, special projects, emergencies, and other operational staffing needs across the CCWD. Assignments and work hours vary depending on departmental needs and may range from occasional short-term coverage to longer-duration assignments, with staffing needs often increasing during holiday and peak vacation periods. The position is non-benefited, and compensation varies depending on the duties performed and assigned job classification.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide administrative and clerical support to assigned departments and CCWD staff.
- Answer phones, assist visitors, respond to inquiries, and provide customer service.
- Prepare, format, proofread, and distribute correspondence, reports, spreadsheets, and other documents.
- Maintain files, records, calendars, schedules, and departmental documentation.
- Coordinate meetings, training sessions, appointments, and conference logistics.
- Perform data entry and maintain accurate records and databases.
- Support special projects and short-term operational assignments.
- Learn and follow department procedures, policies, and administrative processes.
- Maintain confidentiality while handling sensitive or personnel-related information.
Minimum Qualifications
Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:
- Training: Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade supplemented by course work in business, economics, statistics, or a related field.
- Experience: Four years of highly responsible administrative or complex secretarial experience providing support to a high-level administrator.
Licenses and Certifications:
- Possession of a valid California driver's license to be maintained throughout employment.
Possession of the minimum qualifications does not guarantee an invitation to the next step in the selection process. All candidate materials will be carefully evaluated and only those considered best qualified will be invited to the next step in the selection process; the written exam. The application deadline is 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 14, 2026, or the first 150 qualified applications received, whichever comes first.
Physical Demands
Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and use standard office equipment, including a computer; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. Standing in work areas and walking between work areas are required. Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer keyboard or calculator and to operate standard office equipment. Positions in this classification occasionally bend, stoop, kneel, reach, push, and pull drawers open and closed to retrieve and file information. Employees must possess the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects up to 25 pounds.
Environmental Elements
Employees work in an office environment with moderate noise levels, controlled temperature conditions, and no direct exposure to hazardous physical substances.
