Fitness Coordinator

Overview: Aquila's Fitness Coordinator assists in overseeing fitness center programs, assists members in safe and effective exercise and performs a wide range of technical exercise and administrative duties in health/fitness center. Location: Alexandria, VA (fully in-person required) Work Hours: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM; Tuesday and Thursday, 10:30 AM - 7:00 PM Pay Rate: The pay rate is $27.88/hour, 40 hours a week. You will enjoy all of the following benefits at Aquila: Medical, dental, and vision coverage Life and Disability coverage Paid vacation and sick time Paid holidays Continuing education reimbursements Performance bonuses 401k plan with company match Monday to Friday schedule, no weekend work Responsibilities To make recommendations and assist in the formulation of fitness center policies and plans To supervise and monitor exercise participants, perform exercise assessments, and exercise prescription To teach group fitness movement classes Conduct personal fitness training sessions with members of fitness center To assist with selection and supervision of group fitness instructor Supervise exercise areas Perform exercise assessments and prescribe exercise upon American College of Sports Medicine guidelines Conduct safe and effective assessments including cardiovascular, strength, flexibility and body composition analysis; evaluate and interpret data and identify high risk participants and special populations Aid members - spotting and equipment usage Ensure the maintenance, cleanliness and safety of all equipment Adhere to departmental and club policies and procedures Adhere to client's policies and procedures Attend staff meetings Assist in wellness and fitness promotions and external events Perform daily administrative duties Any other responsibilities as assigned Qualifications Active, NCCA accredited National Fitness Certification - (ACE, ACSM, NSCA, NASM, NCSF, NCCPT or AFAA) (required) Bachelors Degree in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Health promotion (preferred) Must be a U.S. citizen as this is a federal agency which will require security clearance Certified in American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers; American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Course; American Red Cross CPR (Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation) for the Professional Rescuer; or equivalent 1+ year experience performing fitness work in a professional setting, preferably in a supervisory role Skills required Strong organizational and managerial skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills Customer service oriented Computer knowledge: Microsoft Office Products & Network Internet Modern principles and practices of organization, administration, budget, and management Acts with a sense of urgency Excellent communication, organizational and management skills Detail oriented, punctual and motivating All candidates must be able to complete a federal security clearance check.
