Staff Accountant
Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support the financial operations of a fiber telecommunications company. This role maintains accurate accounting records for Cost of Sale accounts, supports monthly, quarterly and year-end close cycle, and performs account reconciliations. The Staff Accountant works closely with finance, accounting and operation teams to ensure that network-related costs are recorded accurately and on time.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete general ledger account analysis and monthly accrual calculations for Cost of Sale accounts.
- Prepare and post journal entries with complete supporting documentation.
- Analyze account balances and variances, research discrepancies, and prepare correcting entries.
- Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities and meet established deadlines.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and reporting accuracy.
- Collaborate with internal departments and respond to accounting-related requests.
- Support ad-hoc accounting projects
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- 2-5 years of general accounting experience
- Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and accrual accounting.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including lookups, pivot tables, and data reconciliation.
- Strong attention to detail, analytical judgment, and follow-through.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively across departments.
- Strong ERP skills, Netsuite a plus
