Staff Accountant
The Staff Accountant will be responsible for core financial reporting functions. The Staff Accountant role is located in Lexington, MA and will report to the Director of Accounting & Finance. This position will require proven accounting experience, critical thinking, intellectual curiosity, desire to leverage technology to drive efficiencies and strong communication/collaboration skill.
Job Responsibilities
- Manage general ledger accounting functions and ensure a timely and accurate month-end close.
- Perform and maintain account reconciliations and be able to identify and resolve discrepancies.
- Manage full cycle Accounts Payable functions, including maintaining Purchase orders.
- Payroll Processing across all entities on a Bi-weekly, Semi monthly and monthly cadences.
- Implement process automation and efficiencies.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP.
- Collaborate and support FP&A in preparing the annual budget and financial forecasts.
- Support external audit and tax preparation.
- Assist in implementing and maintaining internal financial controls and procedures.
- Post journal entries.
- Reviewing Avalara and NetSuite for multistate sales and use tax filings.
- Cross train on all accounting functions to provide backup as needed.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to identify and prioritize issues.
Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, analytical abilities.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
Knowledge of accounting software applications. NetSuite preferred.
Education
Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university majoring in Accounting, Finance, or Business.
Experience
2+ years of accounting experience and strong working knowledge of US GAAP.
