Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Neuro MS/Tele night shift position requiring 2 years of specialty acute care experience and Epic proficiency.

Details

• Work in the Med/Surg Telemetry (MS/Tele) unit within a Magnet-designated academic teaching hospital
• Care for neurological patients including CVA, TBI, spinal cord injury, and pre/post neurosurgery cases
• Patient ratio of 1:4
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00-07:30, Monday through Friday
• Weekend rotation and holiday coverage as needed
• Floating required as needed
• Uses Epic EMR

Requirements

• Active WI RN license or compact RN license required
• BLS certification required (AHA only)
• Minimum 2 years of acute care RN experience in Neuro MS/Tele or similar specialty within the last 3 years
• Epic EMR experience required, within past 12 months preferred
• Must pass a telemetry exam with strict passing criteria prior to starting, including 100% identification of lethal rhythms and 80% or higher overall passing score on adult and pediatric exams
• Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I experience preferred
• Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, central line and PICC line management, blood product administration, and peripheral line care
• Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, tracheostomy care, and oxygen administration
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and rapid response/code team protocols
• Experience with wound care/wound vac, isolation precautions/PPE, and IV insulin protocols
• Experience administering high-risk medications such as heparin, insulin, and PCA

Additional Information

• Provide direct nursing care to neurological and med/surg telemetry patients including monitoring, medication administration, and emergency response
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility, as local candidates are not accepted
• First-time travelers will be considered if they have 2 years of Level 1 or similar-size hospital inpatient neuro experience within the last two years
• Parking permit required through UW Transportation if parking onsite; alternative transportation options available
