Job Description

The North America Revenue FP&A team plays a critical role in managing and forecasting key business drivers, including payments volume, gross revenue, cost of volume (including client incentives, rebates, and discounts) and net revenue. The team provides financial insights that help shape business decisions and optimize performance across North America, which represents roughly half of Visa’s global net revenue.

This Finance Director will serve as a strategic finance leader and owner of the NA cost of volume analytics function. This role requires an accomplished leader who can combine executive presence, deep payments acumen, and financial modeling expertise to drive cost of volume planning and management. You will lead cross-functional alignment, challenge underlying business assumptions, evaluate complex commercial deal structures, and deliver clear actionable insights directly to the North America Executive Leadership.

The ideal candidate thrives in ambiguity, acts as a trusted advisor to senior business executives, and possesses strong digital fluency—pioneering the strategic application of Generative AI, Microsoft Copilot, and intelligent automation to transform financial insights and productivity across the organization. 

Key Responsibiliti es:

• Strategic Financial Leadership: Lead financial analysis on incentives and overall cost of volume associated with commercial deals pipeline, including deal economics, key assumptions, risks, opportunities, and underlying performance drivers.
• Executive Advisory & Strategic Influence: Serve as a trusted advisor to Sales leadership and regional executives, framing complex financial trade-offs, multi-scenario deal risks, and commercial strategies to drive optimal revenue outcomes.
• Cross-Functional Operational Alignment: Partner with Deal Finance teams (North America and cross-regional), Controllership (on accounting treatment evaluation / scenarios), Global FP&A (on regional allocation of incentives where global deals are concerned), Client Incentive Operations, Legal, and Sales stakeholders to assess the financial and operational impacts of deal renewals and new deals.
• Deal Pipeline Ownership: Own governance and reporting processes for deal pipeline tracking and the consolidation of total cost of volume, ensuring data accuracy, consistency, and timely insights for leadership decision-making.
• Planning, Budgeting & Forecasting: Own the multi-year planning, annual budget, and quarterly outlook cycles for cost-of-volume metrics. Challenge cross-functional inputs to ensure disciplined, high-accuracy projections and risk-adjusted outlooks.
• Variance & Performance Analytics: Drive executive review cadence for actuals vs. forecast, dissecting key drivers across payment volume, processed transactions, and contract-level economics to identify emerging risks and commercial growth levers.
• Process Transformation & AI Innovation: Drive the long-term vision for Cost of Volume analytics transformation. Spearhead the adoption of Generative AI, predictive analytics, and automated workflows to revolutionize financial modeling, reporting accuracy, and decision-making speed.
• Talent & Matrix Leadership: Mentor, elevate, and guide high-performing talent and cross-functional partners, fostering a culture of analytical rigor, continuous learning, and heightened accountability.

This role is a Hybrid position to be located in our Foster City, CA office location. Visa requires at least 3 days in office, expectations of these days will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

• 10 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 8 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters/ MBA/JD/MD) or at least 3 years of work experience with a PhD
• Deep experience in corporate FP&A, strategic finance, commercial finance, or investment banking.
• Advanced track record in financial modeling, scenario planning, and quantitative business analysis. 
• Demonstrated experience influencing executive-level decision-makers and leading cross-functional strategic initiatives.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 12 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 8-10 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 6+ years of work experience with a PhD
• Payments & Fintech Acumen: Extensive knowledge of the payments ecosystem, including Visa’s multi-party economic model, network economics, and commercial drivers across issuers, acquirers, processors, and merchants.
• Commercial & Legal Sophistication: Proven ability to navigate complex commercial contracts, structure non-standard deals, and evaluate intricate accounting and financial implications.
• Executive Communication: Outstanding presentation and storytelling capabilities; expert at framing complex financial trade-offs for non-finance senior executives.
• Digital & AI Champion: Demonstrated experience implementing digital finance technologies (e.g., Generative AI, Copilot, advanced BI platforms, workflow automation) to modernize FP&A capabilities.
• Strategic Courage & Influence: Ability to constructively challenge long-held assumptions, navigate competing cross-functional priorities, and unite stakeholders around optimal financial decisions.
• Agility & Ownership: Proactive, self-directed leader who operates with a strong bias for action, intellectual curiosity, and operational discipline in high-velocity environments.

Information for US Applicants

For roles located in the US, the estimated salary range for this position is $170,700.00 to $ 273,200.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
