About the Role

Fireworks AI is looking for an experienced Financial Reporting Manager to own and scale the company's technical accounting and financial reporting function as the business grows rapidly.

This role will be responsible for the technical accounting positions, financial statements, and documentation behind some of the most complex areas of our business — leases and data center arrangements, equity, revenue, strategic partnerships, and hardware and compute costs, while building the processes, documentation, and controls needed to support a high-growth AI infrastructure business. The Financial Reporting Manager will also own end-to-end process documentation, building the flowcharts, narratives, and control matrices that strengthen our control environment as we scale. This person will partner closely with Accounting Operations, FP&A, Legal, Tax, Infrastructure, Engineering, Revenue Operations, and Business Development to ensure that complex transactions are understood, documented, and reported correctly.

The ideal candidate is technically deep, writes clearly, and is comfortable forming and defending accounting positions in a rapidly changing industry.

What You'll Do

• Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting process, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.

• Own technical accounting research, conclusions, and memo documentation across the company's most complex and judgmental areas, including revenue, leases, equity, partnerships, and infrastructure arrangements.

• Own lease accounting under ASC 842 end to end, including new lease setup, modifications, disclosures, and related reconciliations.

• Evaluate infrastructure and compute-related spend, including cloud hosting, GPU capacity, data center costs, prepaid commitments, vendor accruals, and other cost-of-revenue and operating expense activity.

• Own accounting for strategic partnership, reseller, and marketplace arrangements, including gross versus net presentation, revenue share, and consideration payable to a customer.

• Own revenue recognition under ASC 606, including partnering with Deal Desk, Revenue Operations, and Legal on non-standard contract review.

• Own equity and share-based payments accounting, including the equity rollforward and other related disclosures.

• Build and maintain end-to-end process flowcharts, narratives, and risk-and-control matrices across key financial reporting cycles, documenting systems, data flows, handoffs, and control points.

• Support the design and implementation of SOX-ready controls as the company matures, including preparation, review, approval, and evidence standards.

• Monitor new accounting pronouncements and evolving industry practice, assess applicability to Fireworks, and lead adoption planning and implementation.

• Serve as a primary point of contact for external auditors on technical accounting areas, preparing audit-ready memos, schedules, and supporting documentation.

• Develop and maintain accounting policies across revenue, leases, equity, capitalization, and partnership arrangements, and socialize them with cross-functional stakeholders.

• Partner with Engineering and Data teams where accounting depends on operational data, ensuring usage, consumption, and infrastructure data used in reporting is complete, accurate, and reproducible.

• Identify opportunities to automate reporting and documentation workflows using ERP functionality, SQL, and AI-enabled processes.

• Assist with tax, insurance, compliance, due diligence, and other accounting projects as needed.

What We're Looking For

• 6–10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including technical accounting and external reporting; public accounting background preferred.

• Strong technical accounting knowledge with hands-on ownership of ASC 606, ASC 842, and ASC 718; familiarity with ASC 808 and ASC 350-40 a plus.

• Experience analyzing non-standard commercial arrangements and partnership or revenue share structures and translating them into supportable accounting conclusions.

• Demonstrated ability to write clear, well-reasoned technical accounting memos.

• Experience documenting processes through flowcharts, narratives, and control matrices, and using that documentation to strengthen controls.

• Experience preparing financial statements and footnote disclosures.

• Experience developing and improving accounting and reporting processes in a fast-growing organization.

• Experience supporting external audits and preparing high-quality accounting documentation.

• Strong systems orientation, including experience with ERPs such as NetSuite and comfort working with large datasets.

• Strong cross-functional communication skills and experience partnering with FP&A, Legal, Tax, Engineering, Revenue Operations, and business teams on transactions before they close.

• Comfortable working in an environment with rapidly evolving systems and changing business requirements.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA or CPA eligibility preferred.

What Success Looks Like

In the first 6–12 months, this person will have:

• deepened the technical accounting documentation behind our most complex arrangements, spanning revenue, partnerships, leases, equity, and infrastructure costs;

• scaled lease accounting alongside our growing data center and GPU capacity footprint, including a clear framework for evaluating new arrangements;

• kept equity accounting and disclosures audit-ready as the company grows;

• become the partner Business Development, Deal Desk, and Legal bring non-standard arrangements to before terms are finalized;

• brought clarity and consistency to how hardware and compute costs are treated and presented;

• documented our financial reporting cycles end to end, strengthening the control environment as we scale;

• elevated the quarterly and annual reporting package, including footnotes and disclosure support; and

• built a reporting environment that absorbs rapid growth without a proportional increase in manual effort.
