Job Description Summary


Learning Assistants (LAs) in the Meehan School of Business provide academic support to students in specific courses and serve as a key extension of the faculty's teaching team. LAs work closely with their assigned faculty member to support student learning and success through regular communication, coordination, and engagement.

Responsibilities may include:

• Attending class sessions to offer in-class learning support
• Holding regular office hours or drop-in help sessions
• Leading review sessions or study groups
• Assisting with assignment review and clarification of course content
• Supporting classroom logistics or technology when appropriate
• Providing peer mentorship and fostering a positive learning environment

LAs are expected to maintain professionalism, uphold academic integrity, and foster inclusive learning environments. The average workload is 1-3 hours per week, depending on the needs of the course.

Job Requirements

• Must have successfully completed the course (or a higher-level equivalent) with strong academic performance
• Must demonstrate a solid understanding of the subject matter and be able to communicate it clearly to peers
• Must have been recommended and requested by a faculty member in the Meehan School of Business
• Must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0, unless an exception is made by the recommending faculty member
• Should possess strong interpersonal skills, reliability, and a willingness to support others
• Must maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism in all interactions with students and faculty
• Prior experience in mentoring, tutoring, or peer support is a plus but not required
