Development Director

Leading and growing philanthropic efforts, the full-time salaried Development Director will focus on building a major gifts program, cultivating relationships with donors, and developing a fundraising strategy in a remote capacity. Key responsibilities Build and direct a major gifts program, developing a portfolio of major donors and creating campaigns for transformational gifts Hire and supervise the development team, fostering collaboration and accountability while coordinating with the CEO and Board on fundraising efforts Devise and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy, overseeing existing initiatives and aligning them with the organization's growth goals Required qualifications At least 6 years of experience in nonprofit development with a proven track record of securing individual gifts in the five and six figures Demonstrated ability to build and maintain donor relationships, with experience in both individual and foundation fundraising Strong writing skills for proposals, donor communications, and fundraising materials Experience managing a team and developing effective fundraising strategies using data and evidence Ability to communicate the importance of local journalism and engage stakeholders in a compelling manner
