Safety and Compliance Director

The Safety and Compliance Director promotes health, safety, and environmental initiatives throughout the region, coordinating safety efforts across all branch locations and regional operating facilities. This role is responsible for loss control prevention, incident reporting, investigation, and corrective follow-ups relative to vehicle accidents, personal injury, property damage, and near-miss incidents. The Director provides strategic leadership, training, and motivation to all regional associates to champion a world-class culture of personal safety, health, regulatory compliance, and environmental stewardship. Additionally, this position oversees and ensures that comprehensive annual audits and facility reviews are executed to maintain strict alignment with corporate safety policies as well as federal, state, and local regulatory requirements. Key Responsibilities Regulatory Expertise & Compliance: Provide environmental, health, and safety expertise to ensure absolute compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations (OSHA, FDA, DOT, and EPA). Policy & Program Development: Formulate, implement, and maintain general safety policies, programs, and procedures across the region. Incident Management & Investigation: Ensure the proper reporting, thorough investigation, and swift corrective action for all vehicle accidents, personal injuries, property damage, and near-miss incidents. Training & Mentorship: Devise, coordinate, and deliver high-impact training programs that increase proficiency in safe practices, coaching both associates and leadership on compliance updates. Auditing & Risk Mitigation: Conduct comprehensive facility audits to detect existing or potential occupational hazards, recommending preventive measures and collaborating with management to implement improvements. Medical Gas & FDA Compliance: Direct compliance efforts specifically surrounding Compressed Medical Gas operations to guarantee alignment with FDA standards, including annual facility reviews and employee certifications. Environmental Stewardship: Manage all environmentally-related regulatory compliance efforts, including SARA, Risk Management Plans (RMP), and waste management. Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with the operations and distribution teams to ensure all regional activities are conducted safely and efficiently. Security & Crisis Coordination: Coordinate security protocols and emergency management plans in support of DOT, Homeland Security, and other regulatory initiatives. Required Qualifications & Competencies Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Safety, Engineering, or a related technical field. Experience: At least 8 years of safety management experience within an industrial manufacturing, chemical, or distribution environment; OR At least 5 years of safety management experience combined with a professional certification (e.g., Certified Safety Professional [CSP], Associate Safety Professional [ASP], or equivalent). Technical Knowledge: Deep, working knowledge of federal safety and OSHA regulations. Tools: Proficiency with standard office productivity software (MS Word, Excel, Outlook). Mobility: A valid driver's license, a reliable personal vehicle, and a willingness to travel up to 50% of the time throughout the designated regional territory. #J-18808-Ljbffr Confidential
