Job Title: Mold Assembly Technician - Build Department Job Description

The Mold Assembly Technician in the Build department assembles and finishes precision molds to meet customer specifications. This role involves polishing mold halves, cutting and installing guide and ejector pins, drilling and tapping holes, and completing final mold assembly using measurement tools and machining equipment. The position requires strong attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and comfort working with computer-based documentation in a modern manufacturing environment.

• Polish mold halves to meet detailed customer specifications, ensuring smooth surfaces and high-quality finishes.
• Cut guide pins and ejector pins to precise measurements and prepare them for installation.
• Drill holes into molds and tap guide pins in accordance with design requirements and production standards.
• Assemble both halves of the mold, ensuring accurate alignment and secure fit of all components.
• Attach ejector plates and pins to the mold, verifying proper function and durability.
• Operate milling and other machining equipment safely and efficiently as part of the mold assembly process.
• Use measurement tools and techniques to verify dimensions, tolerances, and overall quality of assembled molds.
• Follow written work instructions, drawings, and specifications to complete mold assembly tasks accurately.
• Document work activities, measurements, and production data using computer-based systems and basic software programs.
• Communicate clearly with team members and supervisors to coordinate work, report issues, and support continuous improvement.
• Handle and lift parts and equipment weighing up to 50–70 lbs while following safe material handling practices.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with facility and safety guidelines.

• Minimum 6 months of manufacturing experience.
• Mechanical aptitude and ability to work with tools, machinery, and precision components.
• Experience operating milling machines or similar machining equipment.
• Ability to use measurement tools and perform accurate measurements to verify specifications.
• Strong attention to detail when polishing, cutting, drilling, and assembling mold components.
• Comfortable lifting and handling materials weighing up to 50–70 lbs.
• Good written and oral communication skills to follow instructions and interact with the team.
• Ability to use a computer daily for documentation, data entry, and navigating basic computer programs and the internet.
• Ability to use a calculator for measurements, calculations, and production-related data.

• Experience in mold assembly or related precision manufacturing work is beneficial.
• Familiarity with machining processes and safe machine operation practices.
• Basic understanding of manufacturing drawings and specifications.
• Ability to work independently while following established procedures and quality standards.
• Strong organizational skills and commitment to maintaining accurate documentation.

You will work with milling and other machining equipment, measurement tools, computers, and calculators as part of daily operations. The position involves regular lifting of parts and materials up to 50–70 lbs, and you will follow standard safety and facility guidelines appropriate for a modern production setting.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Plymouth, MN.

The pay range for this position is $20.90 - $20.90/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
