Support classrooms and make a meaningful impact in the lives of students as a contract paraprofessional near Kansas City, MO. Multiple immediate opportunities are available for dedicated individuals eager to help students succeed across a diverse range of educational settings. You’ll collaborate closely with teachers and therapists to foster a positive, inclusive environment tailored to various learning and support needs.

Current openings include positions at Spring Valley Elementary in two functional skills classrooms (grades K-6, each with 7-8 students). There are five openings available, potentially suitable for those experienced in either primary (K-2) or intermediate (3-5) age groups. Additional opportunities are available at Northwood School, an all-SPED campus (K-12). Here, roles include support in both the medically fragile elementary classroom (requiring experience with intensive needs) and a secondary classroom that primarily serves students with autism and significant behaviors.

Desired Experience & Skills:

• Prior work as a paraprofessional, classroom aide, or personal care assistant in school settings
• Comfortable with functional skills and special education environments
• Demonstrated experience supporting students with behavioral needs and/or medically fragile students
• Patience, empathy, and adaptability to changing classroom dynamics
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism

What You’ll Do:

• Provide direct support to students with varying cognitive, behavioral, and medical needs
• Assist teachers in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs)
• Support classroom management and help create a safe, welcoming learning atmosphere
• Aid with activities of daily living and mobility as required
• Encourage student independence and positive social interactions
