Accounting Financial Supervisor

USC Department of Surgery is seeking an Accounting Financial Supervisor. Job Overview The Accounting Financial Supervisor reports directly to the Department Senior Clinical Administrative Director and collaborates with Department Division Chiefs and Cost Center Managers to develop and operationalize annual Fiscal Year Budgets for all Fund Groups, including Clinical, MSAA, Research, Gift, and other Academic funds. The role requires strong organizational and communication skills, the ability to be decisive and adaptable, and experience working with senior leadership and faculty on budgets, projections, and variance reports. Responsibilities Consolidate monthly, quarterly, and annual profit/loss statements by cost center. Prepare annual budgeting and quarterly projections. Maintain accounting background in healthcare, institutional research, gifts, and development. Manage third‑party professional service agreements (PSA). Supervise departmental accounting staff. Ensure accountability and implementation of University travel and expense policies. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance. Minimum 2 years of experience as a senior or lead bookkeeper/accountant with direct knowledge of college-level accounting principles. Proficiency in statistical record‑keeping and financial accounting practices. Ability to train, evaluate, and supervise staff. Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills. Commitment to integrity, confidentiality, and adherence to USC policies and procedures. Preferred Qualifications 5–7 years of administrative or project administration experience. Experience in a complex medical or academic development setting. Master’s degree (MBA, Accounting, or MHA). Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Comfortable interfacing with high‑level university leadership and supporters. Diplomatic, team‑oriented attitude and strong relationship‑building abilities. Location and Work Hours This is a hybrid position. Employees must work on site at the USC Health Science Campus in Los Angeles, CA according to scheduled on‑site days.
