Program Manager

Overview Senior Friendship Centers has an opening for a dynamic Program Manager to lead our Nutrition Program throughout Sarasota County. This is an in-office (40 hours/week), Monday–Friday position. The organization serves older adults across Sarasota, DeSoto, Charlotte, and Lee Counties. The Program Manager will oversee congregate dining sites and Home Delivered Meals programs, supervise dining site and assessment staff, coordinate daily operations, and ensure programs meet regulatory and quality standards. Bilingual (English/Spanish) candidates are encouraged to apply, although bilingual skills are not required. In this hands-on leadership role, you will cover all Sarasota County Nutrition roles when coverage is needed and work to create a welcoming, hospitality-centered environment with strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Responsibilities Supervise, train, schedule, and evaluate the work of Nutrition department employees and volunteers. Maintain frequent personal and telephone contact to provide supervision, support, answer questions, and resolve problems. Oversee ordering, portioning, packaging, and delivery of congregate and home-delivered meals; take service requests and resolve client transportation and food delivery issues; coordinate home-delivered meal routes to ensure quality, food safety, and customer satisfaction. Ensure full compliance and training to meet federal and local funding requirements; compile and submit weekly reports on dining sites and home-delivered meals activities; track meals, perform data entry, reconcile paperwork, and submit to the Nutrition Director and fiscal staff as applicable. Maintain complete and current dining client files/assessments and provide documentation to support monitoring visits and audits. Attend health fairs and expos for outreach; participate in fundraising and outreach activities to promote the organization’s mission. Oversee and manage internal data and sequencing of Home Delivered Meals. Coordinate with the Nutrition consultant and food service providers to arrange for well-coordinated and quality service delivery; arrange emergency meals as authorized; work with Area Agencies and funders as needed for monitoring visits. Oversee dining sites and advisory councils; attend quarterly meetings, prepare agendas, and approve new members. Conduct and/or delegate “HDM Only” client assessments; maintain client files and documentation for “nutrition only” clients; refer clients to Case Management when non-nutrition-based needs arise. Ensure processes and protocols are in place to collect, account for, and arrange for donation deposits to designated destinations; prepare reports on dining site activity; attend periodic meetings with supervisor, caterer representatives, other site managers, and nutrition specialists. Provide recommendations regarding expenditures and respond to questions from other departments. Provide backup support to Nutrition staff in their absence and perform regular site visits to all congregate sites to ensure compliance. Attend staff meetings, training, and seminars as required. Supervisory Responsibilities Assessment Coordinator, Nutrition Coordinators, and Volunteers. Organizational & Compliance Must comply with all Senior Friendship Centers personnel policies. Protect the safety and health of staff, volunteers, participants, and others by observing and following the organization’s safety and incident policies. Education, Experience, Licenses, and Certifications Requires Associate’s Degree in Social Science, Food Service Management, or related field, or commensurate professional experience. Bachelor’s Degree preferred. Two years of supervisory experience required. Intermediate computer skills; extensive experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and ability to learn the organization’s systems. Experience presenting to public groups is desirable. Physical Demands Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer, and prolonged periods of standing. Must be able to lift 40 pounds. Must be able to access various departments of a given location independently. Work Environment Work environment may vary between locations and include stairs and travel; moderate noise level. Senior Friendship Centers is a drug- and smoke-free workplace. Travel Travel will be required to complete assessments and operate congregate meal site locations within the county; travel within several counties may be required; must have reliable transportation; valid driver’s license and proof of insurance for work-related travel. Additional Eligibility Requirements Satisfactory clearance of a fingerprint-based, level II background screening, and pre-employment substance abuse testing. Must be authorized to work in the United States. All applicants must pass a Level 2 Background Screening as required by Florida Statutes for positions of responsibility or trust.
