FP&A Manager – Commercial Finance

Savage Search Associates is partnering with an established distribution company seeking an FP&A Manager to lead analysis supporting sales performance, customer profitability, pricing, and margin growth. This is an opportunity to take ownership of meaningful financial analysis, partner directly with business leaders, and build better tools for understanding what drives results.

The ideal candidate combines strong technical skills with curiosity, initiative, and the ability to explain the story behind the numbers.

What You’ll Do

• Lead customer, product, and sales profitability analysis to identify opportunities for revenue and margin improvement.
• Evaluate pricing and bid profitability, helping commercial leaders understand the financial impact of their decisions.
• Analyze sales volume, pricing, and customer mix to explain performance trends and variances.
• Partner with Sales and Operations to develop budget and forecast assumptions grounded in business activity.
• Prepare monthly financial reporting and presentations that clearly explain results, risks, and opportunities.
• Develop performance metrics and improve visibility into the drivers of profitability.
• Use historical results and market information to support forecasts and commercial planning.
• Improve reporting processes, automate recurring analysis, and develop tools that support better decisions.
• Support financial close analysis, strategic planning, and special projects.

What You Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related field.
• At least 10 years of relevant finance and analytical experience.
• Experience leading FP&A or commercial finance analysis and partnering directly with business leaders.
• Demonstrated experience analyzing customer profitability, pricing, sales trends, and margins.
• Budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis experience.
• Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookup formulas, and financial modeling.
• Experience working with ERP data and financial reporting or planning systems.
• Ability to work through large datasets, identify underlying causes, and translate findings into clear recommendations.
• Strong communication skills and the confidence to ask questions, challenge assumptions professionally, and follow through independently.

Preferred Experience

• Distribution or another business with significant product, customer, and transaction volume.
• Bid analysis, pricing strategy, or revenue management.
• Financial reporting automation and process improvement.
• Integrated financial modeling.
• CPA or MBA.
