HR Assistant

Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour Location: ON-SITE, Houston, TX Schedule: Monday- Friday Sirius Staffing is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized HR Assistant for a short-term, project-focused assignment. This role is expected to last approximately 30 days, with a strong possibility of extending to 2–3 months based on project needs. This position will support a large-scale HR records and compliance initiative and will not be involved in day-to-day HR operations activities. The ideal candidate will be dependable, self-directed, and comfortable handling confidential employee information while working independently in a structured office environment. Key Responsibilities Organize, sort, and file large volumes of HR documents (physical and electronic) according to established systems. Prepare documents for electronic transfer from one system to another. Review employee files for completeness and accuracy, identifying and flagging missing or incorrect documents. Handle I-9 forms by verifying documentation, confirming completeness, and storing records in compliance with federal requirements. Maintain strict confidentiality of employee information and follow all company privacy and security procedures. Prepare files for audits, purging, archiving, or offsite storage as directed. Update tracking logs, spreadsheets, and basic HR records to reflect project progress and file status. Scan, label, and index documents into electronic systems, ensuring accurate naming conventions and categorization. Work independently to manage daily tasks, meet project deadlines, and maintain a high level of accuracy with minimal supervision. Communicate issues, discrepancies, or process improvement ideas to the HR project lead in a timely manner. Support additional project-related administrative tasks, including copying, boxing files, and organizing storage areas, as needed. Qualifications & Experience Prior experience in administrative support, records management, or HR support roles required. Familiarity with I-9 documentation and employment eligibility verification preferred; training may be provided. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills with the ability to perform repetitive tasks accurately and efficiently. Proven ability to work independently and remain focused over extended periods. High level of professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality when handling sensitive information.
