Job Description\n Allied Support for Kids is seeking a travel School Occupational Therapist for a travel job in Houston, Texas.Job Description & Requirements\n \n Specialty: Occupational Therapist\n Discipline: Therapy\n Start Date: 09/21/2026\n Duration: 35 weeks\n 40 hours per week\n Shift: 8 hours\n Employment Type: Travel\n \n \n Job Summary (List Format): Occupational Therapist (School-Based, Houston, 26-27 School Year)\n \n \n - Conduct Evaluations & Assessments:\n \n - Perform occupational therapy evaluations and re-evaluations for students referred via special education.\n \n - Assess fine motor, visual motor, sensory processing, self-help/adaptive, and functional skills.\n \n - Review student records, classroom performance, medical/developmental history.\n \n - Prepare comprehensive reports and recommendations.\n \n - Participate in multidisciplinary evaluations for special education eligibility.\n \n \n - Develop and Implement IEP & Special Education Services:\n \n - Attend ARD (Admission, Review, and Dismissal) and special education team meetings.\n \n - Develop measurable OT goals and objectives.\n \n - Contribute to the creation and implementation of IEPs.\n \n - Monitor student progress and adjust interventions as needed.\n \n - Ensure compliance with IDEA, Section 504, TEA, and district requirements.\n \n \n - Provide Therapy & Interventions:\n \n - Deliver direct and indirect OT services individually, in small groups, and classroom settings.\n \n - Design interventions for fine motor, visual-motor, handwriting, sensory processing, self-care/ADLs, classroom participation, mobility, positioning, and adaptive equipment.\n \n - Implement evidence-based therapy to improve educational participation.\n \n - Maintain accurate therapy logs and documentation.\n \n \n - Consultation & Collaboration:\n \n - Work closely with teachers, special education staff, related service providers, and administrators.\n \n - Provide recommendations on classroom accommodations, adaptive equipment, environmental modifications, and sensory supports.\n \n - Train school staff and families on OT strategies and student needs.\n \n - Support intervention implementation across educational environments.\n \n \n - Minimum Qualifications:\n \n - Master’s or Doctorate in Occupational Therapy from accredited program.\n \n - Current Texas OT license; NBCOT registration preferred.\n \n - Prefer experience in school settings and with children/adolescents.\n \n - Familiarity with special education processes, ARD/IEP, and students with various disabilities.\n \n \n - Key Skills & Abilities:\n \n - Knowledge of OT principles, assessments, interventions.\n \n - Understanding of educational law (IDEA, Section 504) and service models.\n \n - Strong communication, collaboration, organization, and case management.\n \n - Ability to manage multiple cases and compliance timelines.\n \n - Commitment to educational equity and student-centered practice.\n \n \n - Physical Requirements:\n \n - Provide services in classrooms and school settings.\n \n - Lift, position, and assist students as needed, using adaptive equipment.\n \n - Travel between assigned campuses as necessary.\n \n \n - Additional Information:\n \n - Partial work-from-home options available.\n \n - Weekly pay, medical/dental/vision benefits day one, pet insurance, family planning benefits, retirement plan, and more.\n \n - Supportive agency with transparent pay, career development, and referral/CE/licensure incentives.\n \n \n ---\n \n Summary:\n \n This is a full-time, school-based occupational therapy position for the 2026-2027 school year in Houston, TX, involving evaluation, intervention, IEP development, and collaboration to support student success in multiple schools, with some remote work possible.\n \n Allied Support for Kids Job ID #JPC -1630701.
