POSITION OBJECTIVE:

Responsible for the successful execution of commercial and federal construction projects for the Nisqually Construction Company (NCS).

Required Skills & Knowledge

• Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with a focus on customer service.
• Demonstrated history of managing multi-million-dollar projects at Joint Base Lewis-McChord (JBLM) or comparable Department of Defense (DoD) installations.
• Excellent time management, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
• Familiarity with quality, health, and safety standards
• In-depth understanding of construction procedures, materials, and project management principles

·         Knowledge of industry-specific software, tools, systems, etc.

·         Advanced knowledge of construction tools, equipment, and safety protocols including Nisqually Tribal rules, laws and ordinances, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), EM-385-1-1 and other applicable safety and health rules & laws

• Proficiency in construction / project management software including Microsoft Office (MS Office), and  Heavy Construction System Specialists (HCSS).
• Outstanding oral and written communication and negotiation skills.

QUALIFICATIONS:

·         Proven ability to manage complex, high-value projects from inception to closeout

·         Proven leadership abilities

·         Proven union partnership abilities and demonstrated compliance with relevant union / NCS contract(s)

Education & Experience

·         Minimum 5 years of superintendent experience in commercial and/or federal construction; bachelor’s degree in engineering or construction related field

Or a combination of education and experience

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:

·         Enforces compliance with all project safety requirements, including EM 385-1-1; identify deficiencies and implement corrective actions.

·         Leads project safety meetings and ensure alignment with corporate safety protocols.

·         Facilitates coordination meetings with project stakeholders.

·         Prepare accurate and detailed daily reports

·         Manages and coordinates self- perform and subcontractor activities on site.

·         Supervises foremen and serve as liaison between field engineering, estimating, and craft personnel to ensure construction adheres to plans and specifications.

·         Conducts inspections and implement project-specific Quality Control (QC) requirements.

·         Plans, schedules, and oversees construction activities including labor, materials, equipment, and methods.

·         Coordinates work across various trades, departments, and external contractors.

·         Assesses work areas for material and equipment needs; collaborate with equipment superintendent as necessary.

·         Troubleshoots construction issues such as productivity delays and scope interfaces.

·         Ensures all personnel are qualified for assigned tasks.

·         Performs additional duties as assigned.

Oversees foremen, field workers, and subcontractors

Physical Requirements:

·         Physical requirements may vary by position and work environment. 

·         Must possess the mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment including a computer. 

·         Ability to maintain attention to detail in a fast-paced work environment with constant interruptions and changing priorities. 

·         Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to forty (40) pounds frequently. 

·         Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. 

·         Potential for after-hours work including nights, weekends, and holidays. 

·         Ability to work outdoors in a variety of climates and elements including sun, extreme heat, rain, snow, etc.

·         Have reliable transportation; possess current WA Driver’s License and insurable through the companies insurance provider.

Work Environment:

This position operates in a professional office environment and may also operate on active construction jobsites. The role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, vibration, extreme weather conditions, and varying noise levels.

Travel Requirements:

·         Daily travel to designated work sites required. 

·         Occasional travel to meetings, trainings, workshops, or conferences.
